On the way back from the T3BOARD06, Andreas Lenz and I (Martin Herr) talked about TYPO3 and the different categories, with which one could organize every single interest that belongs to TYPO3.
We thought about not only to claim whats going wrong, but instead to let the community organize theirselve to minimize redundancies and unneccessary developments - we called it "com.on" and it should have been a signal for all the people out there to stand up and look at the others. What are they doing? Could it be that there are general problems that have to be solved for all of us??
Unfortunately we failed to bring com.on online, our problems consisted and com.on died.
Get the power on the road
Now, over one year later and after having spoken lots of hours about communication, sharing interests and getting organized in terms nobody seems to be and should be responsible, we grabbed our personal itches. If I had been asked last week whether I would like to set up a solution for a better communication between interests in the TYPO3 community I would have answered: "No, sorry, unfortunately I have no time for such things and hey - it's just another personal itch I can't fill out !!"
But then we met people from several TYPO3 agencies at T3Akademie last friday, a local event for discussion TYPO3 interests in Munich, Germany. During the T3Akademie we sat together and talked about how we could help out with our ideas to bring TYPO3, the core developers and the Association forward.Cause I don't like to critizise whithout bringing up at least one possible solution I suggested to set up a web application where everybody could not only claim about what lacks, but also could show what he wants to do for achieving his idea of a better TYPO3. Here we are.
T3ONE - you can be part of it! One could say, that this is a collection of personal itches. Olivier Dobberkau helped me out with hosting things and I sat in my kitchen every night since last friday and coded the T3ONE extension besides my "normal" work for yeebase (I'm one of the T3N guys).
T3ONE - an early dirt extension
Unfortunately I'm not a core developer and all parts of T3ONE have been build with a "quick-and-dirty"-feeling and under great pressure. But hey, it works and there are moments in life you can't be perfect but it's necessary to start. I'm sorry for that.Hopefully, we are on a good way to get this kind of communication platform to the next level, rebuild/fix it, move it to typo3.org quickly and officially integrate it there. If you want to inspire people to share, you will have to inspire yourself, first - so start with your interests, your personal itches, things that get you "flashed"!
